My "Digital Artifact" (or meme)

My very, very high effort meme.

    In my opinion, this meme shows the future of the political struggle for gay Americans, based off the current political situation in the United States. You see, in the US, we have 3 factions in politics. You have the right, a semi-monolithic cult that wishes to uphold “family values” and patriarchy all so billionaires can profit off the persecution of minorities. I hope that is not a controversial statement in this class. Then of course, you have the left, a much more fractured faction filled up with all the people who meet the bare minimum of at least thinking persecution and authoritarianism are a bad thing. Because of its cult like status, we do not see much of a shift from the right to the left, with America staying “polarized” as a result. But of course, if nobody switched their votes the same party would win every time, and that’s where we get to the third pillar: the American Moderate. You see, just like the political right, the American Moderate is also a cultist, although to a different cult entirely: the cult of compromise. They’re convinced everyone has political merit, and no matter what, to discredit one side of the political spectrum entirely would be complete blind faith! Surely if so many people like a party it must have some redeeming qualities, right? Because of this, American politics is left in a state where the main issue is not actual policy, it is at least appearing as if you will compromise. That’s how we get politicians like Joe Biden in the oval office. But how does that relate to gay rights? Well, as the meme shows, moderates don’t see any difference between protecting the rights of trans or gay people and literally killing hundreds. Because of this, I strongly believe the US will continue to flip flop between republican and democrat unless something is done, with republicans having a much easier time of seizing power overall with their authoritarian tendencies. In other words, if the cult of the moderate and the cult of the republican do not shrink, democracy is out, and that is very, very bad news for queer people.

On Genderfluidity and Gender Presentation (FYS WRITING ASSIGNMENT #1 RESPONSE)

As a gender-fluid person, this question is a hard one to respond to. How am I meant to dissect my gender if I barely know what it is, or if it shifts daily?
